The pictures here show the process involved when installing Karndean, or any LVT, over a new solid floor that has residual construction moisture present. A Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) is applied to the sub-floor, then primed when dry and overlaid with a smoothing compound. When the smoothing compound is dry we can start to mark out the Keyline Border and commence the installation.

I think we could stop at the DPM … it’s a lovely colour blue don’t you think ??

mybuilder.com

We’ve had a number of leads from mybuilder.com over the last couple of weeks. These sites work great when the potential customer accurately describes their requirements. i.e. do they want someone to supply and install or just an an installer ??

Recently mybuilder.com has brought us enquiries ranging from Karndeans’ excellent Art Select range to carpet tiles for a local business.

Have a look at our Mawson Floors Facebook page for images of jobs we’ve completed.mawson-logo may 2015 RESIZE

New Products

We’ve heard about a new Vinyl Flooring product that can be produced with any Bespoke Graphic Design in sheet or tile format.  I imagine it could be effective in shops, exhibitions, office and business receptions for example. More on this when I’ve had a touch and feel of the product.

Very importantly we are pleased to be adding Kahrs Engineered Woodkahrs-logo

and  Cavalio Designflooring our to our portfolio in the near future.Cavalio logo

This makes it easier and more environmentally friendly to clean and maintain your floor, giving you peace of mind that your Karndean floor will look great for years to come.

Regular cleaning

Regular cleaning with a pH neutral cleaner such as Karndean Clean will help keep your floor at its best. Follow these simple steps for cleaning your Karndean floor:

  1. With a soft sweeping brush, remove any loose dirt or dust
  2. Add 50ml of Karndean Clean (1 notch represents 50ml) to approximately 8-10 litres of clean water
  3. Mop the Karndean Clean solution onto the whole floor, removing any excess liquid

Then allow your floor to dry before walking on it.

Karndean Flooring and Maintenance products are available through Mawson Floors.

We look forward to your call to discuss your requirements.

New Carpets, To Vacuum or not to Vacuum ?

Have you heard the common myth that you should let a new carpet “settle in” for a week or so?

In fact, the exact opposite is true.

Most new carpets will shed a small amount of loose fibres and these should be removed by vacuuming.

If left the fibres will be walked back into the carpet and can cause a matted appearance or even a Pilling effect similar to that found on a sweater.
